Australian Prime Computer uprooted Cracker

Sydney - The computer belongs to Prime Minister (PM), Australia Julia Gillard is reported to have broken cracker aka cyber criminals. Not only that, the crackers are also hacking into computer systems owned by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Defence of Australia.

According to media reports, U.S. intelligence had informed the Australian government that thousands of emails accessed without permission on a computer system 10 ministries. Suspected perpetrators come from the Bamboo Curtain country, China.

Reported by AFP and quoted on Tuesday (29/03/2011), the attack was reportedly carried out more than a month and begins in February. In addition Gillard computer, the computer's Foreign Minister Kevin Rudd and Defence Minister Stephen Smith also got hit.

"Four government sources confirmed that they are notified if the Chinese intelligence agents on the list of suspected foreign cracker (red-attack)," wrote the Daily Telegraph the news media.

Security experts said the attack might be conducted to find out data about projects that were being drafted the Australian government. Especially about the various trade secrets.
 


The Australian government itself through the Attorney-General Robert McClellan refused to confirm or deny the report. He simply asserted that the issue of cyber security is always taken seriously by the government.
