A study found, adult entertainment sites known to exploit bugs or gaps to track user behavior and use it to target advertising.
Researchers at the University of California, San Diego, USA said, the gap allows hackers to see what other people have visited and use this information for advertising purposes.

"Our study shows the popular Web 2.0 applications such as mashups, aggregators and targeted ads, filled with various types of privacy violations,"the researchers wrote in their report.

The study also found, some browsers like Google Chrome and Apple Safari, is not affected by this defect, as well as the latest versions of Mozilla Firefox. As for users of Internet Explorer, the researchers recommended to turn on the feature 'private browsing' to avoid these bugs.
