Know You Power Supply Conector

There are several types of connectors and functions on the computer, here's a quick explanation;

To increase our knowledge about computers, Power supply has a lot of connectors. And each of the connectors has a different function. Although most cables have the same voltage, but each connector has been grouped by function.

1. ATX power connector (20pin + 4pin) ATX 20/24 pin connector used to connect the power supply unit (PSU) to the motherboard. The old version of ATX motherboards still use the ATX 20 pin connector, if we use the latest motherboard that already requires ATX 24 pin connector. Konetktor consists of 2 parts. The first part of 20 pins and two 4-pin section. If we use a new motherboard that will combine the 20 + 4 pin connectors.

2. AT power connector (12 pins): This connector is used for Pentium II-class motherboard down. The connector has 12 wires are grouped separately into 2 parts. The first part called the P8 connector and the second part is called P9. Each connector has 6 wires. To avoid errors in setting up, we simply bring together the connectors that have a black wire in the middle.

3. Molex connector: This connector is used to power the hard disk and cd drives. Sometimes some manufacturers also make the fan / cooling fan, lights and other accessories using this connector. This connector has 4 wires of different colors, namely Red, and Yellow Hitan. Each color has a different voltage sources also vary.

4. Berg connector: a connector mini size of the Beautiful. This connector is specific to the Floppy Drive or any external audio card. Colors are used together with the comely connectors, namely Color Yellow (+12 V), Red (+5 V) and Black (0V or Ground). Because the use of this connector rarely, so in each PSU only amounted to 1 or 2 at most.

5. ATX 12V (Intel) 4 pin connector: This connector is mostly used by those users who use a processor made by Intel. The function of this connector is as a provider of additional power at 12 V for the Pentium 4 CPU. So on the Pentium 4 down, this connector should not be used. Now some AMD motherboards also have using this 12V ATX connector.

6. 6 pin PCI-E connector: The connector on this one are extremely rare for all PCs. Usually people who use this PSU is a person who works in the field of Multimedia, especially video. Because this connector is only used as anbooster power for a video card that uses PCI Express slot . If we use this type of Videoa Card, of course we should have a PSU that support for this connector.

7. SATA Power connector: This connector is the latest type commonly used for power on the Hard Disk SATA (serial ATA). This connector is connected through connector Beautiful (extended).
